Class to be held at Seavey Vineyard in Napa on April 5, 2025
Come learn the to manage the most critical steps of winemaking by joining Jim Duane in person for a full-day curriculum of practical winemaking. All of the instruction will be hands-on. The focus will be the on basics of interpreting wine chemistries, managing successful fermentations, winery equipment, and blending. The class will cover:
Laboratory analysis and interpretation of juice and wine
Fermentation management
Strategies for smart use of SO2
Critical decision-making points for white, reds, and rosé wines
Cold and heat stabilization
Basic winery equipment
A blending seminar of 2024 wines
Tasting of Seavey Vineyard wines
On Saturday, April 5th we will start at 10AM and finish about 3PM. Lunch and wines will be included. I'm capping the event at ten participants so that we can stay focused. This will be useful for wine professionals, but also accessible and fun for anyone with a basic passion for winemaking. Please bring all of your winemaking questions.
